At this time of year, no weekend passes without thousands surging into the streets and parks for a run or a walk or a bike ride to raise money for research to cure one horrible malady or another. You have all seen these events. Many of you join them. And, yes, some of you are annoyed by them: you go to the park in the first place to escape the miseries of the world, disease included. A New York Times columnist suggests, tongue in cheek, that groups should organize more nap for the cure programs to avoid overcrowding.
