The Art and Benefits of Storytelling
Speaker Profile:
Matt Glass, Eventage Partner and Chief Creative Officer
Matt’s specialty is using both sides of his brain simultaneously while producing events. He can develop a plan for buses to unload thousands of event participants while writing a ceremony script to make them laugh, cry and cheer. He has interviewed, scripted and coached Fortune 100 CEOs and people who are battling diseases like breast cancer, brain tumors, diabetes and depression. He has supervised the installation of everything from fireworks shells to rare orchids and managed every type of person, from Teamsters to tap dancers.
After working on the 1992 Democratic National Convention, Matt became Santa Claus’s boss at Macy’s Herald Square. He was soon named Production Manager for Macy's Annual Events, the in-house production team responsible for Macy's landmark events. His responsibilities at Macy's included managing the communications command center for the Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as all marine and pyrotechnic operations for Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks, the largest Independence Day show in the country. He also oversaw technical operations for in-store promotional events featuring icons such as Julie Andrews, Magic Johnson and Muhammad Ali.
Matt graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Vermont. He lives in South Orange, NJ with his wife Jennifer and their two young daughters. He is proud to have mastered the art of assembling IKEA furniture.
