- Pushups for Charity to Take Place in 115 Gyms Across USA
On Saturday, May 19th, 2012, 115 gyms across the country will challenge participants to see how many pushups they can do in 90 seconds, while getting friends and family to sponsor them by donating anywhere from 50 cents to $1 per pushup. Last year alone raised over $250k and this year's goal is $500k. Proceeds will be donated to The Boot Campaign, a Texas-based non-profit that supports soldiers healing from physical and emotional wounds.(5/17/2012) permalink
- Samsung Hope Relay App Launched
Samsung is encouraging people to take part in its Hope Relay to celebrate the Olympic Games in London this year, and to leave a lasting legacy by raising funds for three charities.
Anyone can take part by downloading a mobile app and taking part. Samsung will donate £1 for every mile completed. The money will be donated to Kids Company, London 2012's international sports legacy programme International Inspiration, and an IOC designated charity. It will donate up to up to £667,000 or $1 million.(5/17/2012) permalink
- Samsung Sponsors UK Bike Week, App Raises Funds
Consumer electronics giant Samsung will be the official sponsor of this year’s Bike Week, which takes place from 16-24 June. The South Korea-based company has also unveiled a smartphone app that ties in with its sponsorship of the Olympic Torch Relay under which the company will donate £1 to charity for each user completes a mile as part of the Samsung Hope Relay initiative.(5/17/2012) permalink
- Ride Like A Pro At The Tour De Steamboat
This summer cyclists from around the world are invited to experience first hand what sets riding in Steamboat apart, by participating in the 8th annual Kent Eriksen Tour de Steamboat on July 21, 2012. The two-day fundraising event benefiting the Sunshine Kids Foundation offers three courses: 110-mile century course, 40-mile out and back, and a 25-mile loop.(5/11/2012) permalink
- Water.org and Rosetta Launch 'Steps for Water' Mother's Day Campaign to Raise Awareness of World Water Crisis
Water.org and interactive agency Rosetta are joining forces to launch an interactive Mother's Day initiative called 'Steps For Water' to raise awareness for the world water crisis, which largely impacts poor women and children and takes the life of approximately 5,000 children each and every day. Beginning today, anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of women and children that lack access to clean water can connect through an online community, make a donation to Water.org at https://donate.water.org, and participate in the nationwide virtual walk-a-thon that will take place Saturday, May 12 by downloading the Steps For Water app designed to track participation and facilitate the goal of reaching one million virtual steps. - Relay for Life a fundraising powerhouse; 3 million take part
Raising $415 million with 3 million participants across the country, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life has become Kingthon. The 24-hour relay walk brought in more than three times as much money last year as its next closest marathon, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, according to the 2011 Run Walk Ride Fundraising Survey.

- Thousands Run in Sport Relief Fundraising Events
Thousands of people across the UK have been participating in running events raising money for Sport Relief. The funds will be spent by the Comic Relief charity in the UK and the world's poorest countries. Celebrities joined Olympic athletes for the Sport Relief London Mile, while Prime Minister David Cameron took part in an event in Buckinghamshire. Friday's BBC telethon, featuring sport and entertainment stars, raised more than £50m - an on the night record. By Sunday more than £52m had been raised.(3/25/2012) permalink
