Job Description
Plan, supervise and execute development programs for Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Soldier Ride to reach the organization’s annual and long-range development goals and develop strategies to support the growth and expansion of the organization.
Provide program oversight for Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Soldier Ride, a program that provides adapted cycling opportunities across the country for wounded warriors. The rides are typically 3-5 days long, are geared for warriors of all abilities, and both adaptive and standard cycling equipment is provided regardless of injury. In addition to the physical benefit, Soldier Ride also helps raise public awareness of the issues warriors face today through public events held throughout the ride.
These development programs include, but are not limited to:
- Major Gifts:
- Build an overall vision, excitement, and momentum for increased giving that supports organizational growth and contributes significantly to the general fund.
- Develop annual work plan and fundraising calendar with long and short range goals
- Identify and strategize cultivation and outreach to prospective donors; develop message, awareness campaign, public relations, and outreach materials
- Strategic Partnerships:
- Secure sponsorship partners at all levels; national, regional, and ride
- Coordinate corporate efforts with our Director, Strategic Partnerships
- Secure in-kind sponsorships in support of Soldier Ride
- Online:
- Manage Soldier Ride website and regional ride micro sites
- Build and maintain registered ride efforts
- Acquire names, addresses, and contact information
- Foundations/Grants:
- Maintain foundation grants calendar of submissions and reporting cycles
- Build portfolio of foundation/grant prospects and coordinate the submission of grants
- Make appropriate initial contacts with foundations and grant sources
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead development efforts in support of our Soldier Ride.
- Identify, acquire, cultivate, and steward gifts from individuals and foundations;
- Generate creative solutions with a demonstrated attention to detail
- Strategically navigate in changing social and funding environments
- Supervise staff and volunteers and facilitate teamwork in support of fundraising initiatives
- Mobilize others to fulfill the vision of the organization with a display of passion and optimism
- Report goals progress and fund breakdown
- Analyze department projects and activities
- Produce periodic reports on projections, cost, and anticipated revenue.

- Proficiency in using computer software and knowledge of donor base management
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum requirement of five (5) years business related experience working in a diverse non-profit fundraising program required. Experience in fundraising fundamentals. Extensive experience with "registered ride/event" fundraising. Cycling experience preferred. Experience with internet fundraising, major gift giving, corporate support, foundational grants, and special event planning.
